What you will be doing
Key responsibilities:
- Provide optical and mechanical design solutions in line with customer and internal specifications, aligned with Umicore manufacturing capabilities
- Support the Sales Team during customer visits and at exhibitions by providing technical expertise as required
- Support Operations and the Quality Assurance department, including identification and resolution of manufacturing issues related to design
- Define optical performance criteria, prepare test specifications, and support measurement and validation of optical systems
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations of optical solutions in support of the Sales Team
Who we are looking for
- Degree in Physics or Engineering; focus on Optics is desirable
- Basic knowledge of optical design principles and optical design software
- Experience in the design of infrared optical assemblies is a plus
- Experience in software design and codingStrong self‑management skills with the ability to deliver work on time
- Project management skills within own area of responsibility
- Good command of English for communication with customers and within the team
- French language skills are desirable, as the position is based in France
- Team player with strong respect for project deadlines
- Self‑organized and able to work independently
- Strong attention to detail
- High level of technical affinity
