About Cobalt & Speciality Materials
 
Mastering the cobalt value chain. Umicore’s expertise covers the sourcing, production and distribution of cobalt and nickel products. Umicore’s materials are at the heart of products we use every day such as rechargeable batteries, tools, paints and tyres. Our recycling and refining processes give new life to cobalt and other metals and reduce environmental impacts. To meet the demands of our customers we cannot stand still. What you will be doing
 
We are currently looking for an Environmental, Health & Safety Manager to join our team in Bruges. In this role you will oversee all matters related to Health, Safety and Environment, hence combining the function of Safety Prevention Advisor and Environmental Coordinator within USMB. You will also be responsible for the Bruges plant security. 
 

Detailed Responsibilities:
* Health and Safety

• You set up, implement and manage an adequate safety strategy and management for the site, sensitizing, motivating employees at all levels at the site in order to foster a pro-active safety culture
• You monitor and reports on safety performance metrics and KPI’s 
• You implement and follow up of Umicore Group Standards
• You are the final responsible for the intervention and EHBO teams
• You conduct comprehensive risk assessments and safety audits, for both the chemical and process risks at UMSB

* Environment:

• You keep the site policies in line with the environmental legal requirements and Umicore group Requirements
• You acquire and maintain the necessary environmental and building permits for the site
• You manage all legal and group communication/reports
• You keep the site ISO14001 certified.

* You are in charge of plant security

* You are the USMB contact for EHS within/outside Umicore 

* You represent Umicore and USMB in sectorial organizations and professional associations. You set up and maintain good relations with local governmental and city services. You are USMB contact with external Occupational Health Services

* You actively follow up on Umicore Group standards and implement across the site and collaborate with management to create and enforce safety policies.
 

Who we are looking for

• You have a Master degree in a technical branche or equivalent by experience. You have officially accredited degree of Safety Prevention Advisor – level 1 and Environmental Coordinator – level A.
• You have at least 5 years of operational Managerial experience
• You have a solid knowledge of applicable legislation (regional, national, European, …)
• You have solid technical and juridical knowledge on energy, greenhouse gas emissions, noise
• You are highly interested in chemicals and chemical process
• You have good (spoken and written) communication skills and are well able to communicate persuasive and tactful to all levels of site and hierarchy
• You are able to set up, present and defend a strategy and coordinate implementation and combine short and long time visions
•  You combine good project management and people management skills. Team play is key for you
• You are responsible and decisive
• You are a conciliator of green and safety values with industrial/economic objectives
