What you will be doing

The Commercial Sales Employee will be taking care of the commercial activities of the entire purchasing and sales process in Umicore Battery Materials domain.  He/she will be dealing fully with relevant administrative flows and their day-to-day execution, customer orders, customer financial compliance and obligations, reporting on purchases and sales, ensuring maximum customer satisfaction, internal efficiency and sales targets achievement.

This person will collaborate with all key stakeholders and assist other Umicore teams with initiatives, processes and tools required.

The Commercial Sales employee will work from our office in Brussels, Belgium.

 

 Tasks and responsibilities

  • Follow up  and ensure correct and accurate administration during the entire purchase, sales and commercial processes involving follow up of process orders, invoices, contractual compliances, stocks, shipments
  • Set up and maintain correct and up to date plant, customer and material masterdata records in SAP
  • Receive and register new purchases / orders in SAP making sure all relevant parties are informed and agreed criteria are met.
  • Apply metal hedging/fixations in system.
  • Respond in a timely manner to resolve issues and meet business needs and expectations.
  • Collaborate and build strong relationship with other functions and other internal counter parts and seek support to tackle potential hurdles in a pro-active way.
  • Act as hub between the various parties and ensure that everyone is on the same page.
  • Follow up on commercial complaints, contractual obligations and agreements, procedures and guidelines escalating any deviations and disputes.
  • Follow up on stocks and shipments with counterparties and P&T team
  • Handle month end activities/reports/checks.
  • Detect and evaluate (business) risks and opportunities, to propose solutions and implement proposals to increase system processes and administrative efficiency flows.
  • Seek and propose solutions and optimizations for suppliers and customers to maximize customer satisfaction and meet Umicore objectives.
  • Cooperate in (optimization) projects to achieve that project objectives are met while respecting the predefined criteria and time schedule.
  • Back up duties of other team members when necessary.
  • Mistakes can lead to financial loss and a heavy workload inside and outside the department, to customer dissatisfaction.

 

Who we are looking for

  • Knowledge of purchases, sales and logistics principles: incoterms, VAT regulations, transport regulations, dangerous products and packaging, hedging and invoicing, letters of credit
  • Bachelor's degree, as well as 5 years of multi-disciplinary experience, and 5 years of experience with SAP, Office 365
  • Analytical, fast learner, able to switch priorities in a global high-demanding environment
  • Customer focus with a hands-on mentality to inform and consult the various stakeholders involved
  • Planning and organizational skills, apt to think and plan ahead when dealing with a multitude of tasks and stakeholders
  • Positive, entrepreneurial, create and share new ideas with(in) the team(s)
  • Team player, proven interpersonal communication skills, able to navigate in a matrixed, global environment
  • Rigorous, methodical and numerate, utilizing an eagle eye when dealing with details
  • Discretion regarding sensitive and confidential information
  • Long-term career aspiration

  • Fluency in English and other National languages
