What you will be doing

For its headquarters in Brussels, Umicore is looking for a Consolidation and IFRS Manager to strengthen its Group Control and Consolidation team. In this role you will apply your expertise in accounting, consolidation techniques and IFRS to autonomously run a set of consolidation tasks required for the Group monthly financial reporting, ad-hoc IFRS analysis as well as for the externally published financial statements !


Your main responsibilities :

  • Take an active role in the consolidation process (equity reconciliation, consolidation elimination entries, consolidation accounting entries,…)
  • Perform the needed controls on the consolidation packages entering the system at each ‘Published’ closing
  • Assist in half-yearly consolidation process in order to prepare Group financial statements
  • Maintain the Accounting Manual under IFRS, and monitor that this is accurately being applied across the Group
  • Assist in IFRS analysis and business partnering for contemplated transactions to assess their potential impact of Group accounts
  • Act as a coordinator with the tax department, reflect with them on an efficient tax reporting in compliance with new tax legislation
  • Assist in the integration of new acquired entities in the consolidation of the Group, and assist in the preparation of Purchase Price Allocations (PPA), related position papers, and the proper reflection of that in the consolidation
  • Act in the digitalization/automation roadmap by being a key element in the deployment of new consolidation tools.

Who we are looking for

  • You hold a Master degree in economics or finance with sound experience (5 years +) in consolidation, accounting or external audit with IFRS experience
  • You have a good technical background in accounting, IFRS, consolidation and tax
  • You are able to work in a highly IT system driven environment : Office tools (mainly Excel), SharePoint, Consolidation and Reporting tools, disclosure management solution; knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP is an add-on
  • You like to work in a team; you also reflect a positive attitude
  • You have an innovate approach and are open to changes and to improvements
  • You are able to work autonomously (flexible and stress resistant) in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
  • You are stress resistant with accuracy and good eye for details
  • You have good communication skills (multi-department, cross business units and legal entities, external auditors) including communication of technical or financial information to a non-technical audience in a concise way
  • Fluency in English is a must, all other languages (mainly Dutch, French and German) are valuable assets
