The function holder will have to ensure that the key commercial and investment programs will deliver in line with the RISE 2030 performance objectives and risk thresholds.
What you will be doing
The jobholder acts as process owner for the Group Risk Management process and as an advisor to the Management Board of the Umicore Group (MB) in close collaboration with Business Group/Business Unit management and has to ensure that key strategic commercial and investment programs meet defined risk boundaries and support the RISE 2030 performance criteria, and guarantees excellence in execution. Main areas of responsibilities:
- Ensure the risk and sensitivity of the program/business model to change in assumptions is well defined (cfr. market, financial, operational)
- Ensure excellence in execution: monitor and report on KPI’s; ensure material deviations are timely identified and reported, appropriate contingency and risk mitigation plans are defined with the business team
- Develop standard templates for evaluation of key commercial opportunities including financial (metal rates, inflation, tax/VAT), operational (OEE) and market assumptions (market size, competitive positioning, technology and product roadmaps)
- Model P&L & cash flow items and analyse sensitivity to change in parameters (financial, operational, market)
- Identify key decision moments/points of no-return throughout execution
- Collaborate with operations, sales, procurement, trade compliance, VAT to refine the model and quantify the risks & opportunities
- Ensure consistency of underlying parameters during the assessment of different opportunities (unit costs, metal rates, FX, inflation, OEE, WACC)
- Develop a standardized approach for governance of major investment programs over their lifetime, including KPI’s on execution versus budget and milestones, and report accordingly
- Organize systematic review upon every milestone/point of no return, ensuring the program is on track and appropriate actions are taken in agreement with MB in case of any material deviation
- Act as facilitator for the Group Contract & Investment Committee (CIC) in preparation & documentation of the respective approval requests and decisions taken by the Supervisory Board
- Ensure the business understands the sensitivity of the program to key assumptions and manages accordingly
- Monitor evolution of key assumptions (financial, operational, market), identify impact and agree with business on appropriate actions ensuring performance targets of programs in execution stay on track. Update model for future programs accordingly
Who we are looking for
You are an ideal candidate for us as you:
- Hold a Master’s degree in business economics or business administration
- Have min. 10 years experience in controlling & risk management preferably with manufacturing industries, extensive experience in strategy and multi-functional teams/projects in a global business environment
- Have gathered experience in metals management (hedging)
- Possess solid conceptual understanding of business models – including drivers and sensitivities (financial, operational and market) & excellent financial modelling skills
- Are strong at performance & program management skills (cfr. execution programs) and risk management skills
- Are well-structured & decisive and possess excellent analytical, synthesizing and organizational skills
- Have demonstrated leadership over multi-functional and non-hierarchical teams
- Have high commitment to results & timelines
- Possess flexibility & sense of initiative; highly autonomous
- Have excellent communication skills (presentation & advisory)
- Are a fast learner and fluent in English
- Have the ability to successfully operate in various cultures
- Willing to travel
