About Enterprise Functions

A global organisation. It’s not just those in our industrial sites and technical centres that are vital to Umicore’s growth. Across our enterprise functions we ensure that we continue to grow and evolve – whether it’s by making sure our decisions are commercially viable, enhancing our reputation, building new customer relationships or finding the right people who can build on what we’ve already achieved. The variety of our work means we cannot stand still. We need to find new ways to do things, discover new solutions and develop new ideas. Which is where you come in.

Your Key Accountabilities
You will join Umicore's global energy & industrial gases sourcing team, supporting operations across Europe, North America, and Southeast Asia. As Umicore continues to expand its Battery Materials business and accelerate its sustainability ambitions, the demand for energy and industrial gases is growing rapidly. The team sources amongst others electricity, natural gas, oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen, CO2 credits and energy attribute certificates. In this role, you will combine strategic sourcing, market analysis, data management, and energy trading activities to help secure reliable supply, optimize costs, and contribute to Umicore's decarbonization goals.

You will:

  • Lead energy and industrial gases tendering processes, supplier selection, contract negotiations, and contract management for both existing operations and new site developments.
  • Monitor energy and commodity markets, analyze price developments and trends, and proactively communicate insights and recommendations to internal stakeholders.
  • Develop cost forecasts and budgets for energy and industrial gases, supporting business planning and decision-making.
  • Build and maintain dashboards, reporting tools, and data models that provide actionable insights into sourcing performance, risk exposure, and market developments.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and governance by managing and consolidating energy, procurement, market, and operational data from multiple sources.
  • Collaborate closely with category managers, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective reporting and analytical solutions.
  • Manage supplier relationships, contractual obligations, invoice verification, and associated commercial, contractual, and credit risks.
Who we are looking for
  • You hold a Master's degree in economics, sciences, or other, and substantial professional experience in indirect procurement.
  • You bring at least two years of relevant experience in energy sourcing.
  • You are fluent in English. Knowledge of Dutch and/or German is a strong plus.
  • You have strong analytical and conceptualizing skills. Knowledge of PowerBI is an advantage.
  • You are an effective communicator with strong stakeholder management skills, able to influence, persuade, and build constructive relationships across the organization.
  • You are results-oriented and continuously look for opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and ways of working.
  • You demonstrate the highest standards of ethics and integrity in your daily work and decision-making.
  • You are a collaborative team player, flexible, proactive, and eager to learn and contribute in an international environment.
