What you will be doing
As Product Stewardship and Environmental Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring environmental compliance and driving sustainability at our Hoboken site. Your focus will be on high-impact areas that matter most for our license to operate and our relationship with the community.
Your key responsibilities:
- You assume the role of Product Stewardship Manager for the Hoboken site. This involves:
- Supporting the commercial & transport departments so that incoming and outgoing shipments of material run smooth.
- Following up on relevant Reach registrations for the site and initiating new dossiers when necessary (in co-operation with Corp EHS department).
- Representing Umicore in the technical work groups of the relevant Reach consortia and defending our interests.
- Follow-up and assessing the impact of potential new EU legislation on the Hoboken product portfolio.
- You manage the ongoing efforts for soil and groundwater remediation on the Hoboken site. This involves:
- Management of new soil remediation studies and projects, in cooperation with external expert. This includes a regular interface with relevant authorities with the aim of a swift approval process.
- Ensuring the execution all recurrent mandatory reporting to government agencies and organizing the necessary actions by external experts.
- Following up contaminated soil inventory and provide guidance and support to ongoing site projects & excavation works.
- You take responsibility for the noise emissions of the Hoboken site. This involves:
- Follow-up of noise immissions, investigating complaints, and agreeing actions with relevant operational departments.
- Interfacing with neighbours and environmental agencies in case of complaints.
- Proposing new investments to improve performance of the site and stewardship that agreed investments are constructed with the agreed timing.
- Coaching coworkers and contractors on the reduction of noise from transport operations.
Who we are looking for
- A Master’s degree in engineering, chemistry or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of operational experience, experience in environmental management is an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and build trust.
- Analytical mindset, project management experience, and inclusive leadership style.
- Fluency in Dutch and English.
- Accreditation as Environmental Coordinator – Level A or willing to get this accreditation in the future.
