Mastering the cobalt value chain. Umicore’s expertise covers the sourcing, production and distribution of cobalt and nickel products. Your Key Accountabilities

As our EHS Professional, you will be responsible for implementing and managing health and safety programs in our chemical manufacturing facilities in Tennessee and Louisiana.  Specifically, this will include:

  • Leading monthly site safety training and facilitating all annual safety meetings. 
  • Managing industrial hygiene and biomonitoring testing programs and ensuring appropriate protection measures are in place to maintain exposure limits below defined levels.
  • Identifying and managing PPE equipment and programs.
  • Creating and delivering new employee and contractor sfaety training and orientations.
  • Managing job safety analyses, hazard assessments, and participating in occupational and process safety incident reviews, which includes leading and assisting with investigations.
  • Managing the Risk Awareness Program and cultivating a strong culture focused on safety. 
  • Managing and implementing Lock Out/Tag Out, Hot Work, Confined Space, and Fall Protection programs, activities, and compliance verifications. 
  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring leading safety indicators.
  • Implementing, supporting, and managing Group EHS standards and programs.
  • Maintaining working relationships with governmental agencies and ensuring all safety-related inspections reflect compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Reporting KPI and maintaining EHS dashboards.
  • Performing other duties as needed.
Who we are looking for

Our success is based on individuals who are ready to make the most of their skills and prepared to tackle any challenge they face.  As well as a Bachelor's degree in a technical or science field (Environmental Sciences preferred), you should have:

  • 5 years' hands-on experience with safety.  At least 3 years' experience in a manufacturing enviornment preferred.
  • Experience providing employee training and making presentations.
  • Preferred certifications:  Certified Safety Professional, Associate Safety Professional, and/or Safety Management Specialist.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices.
  • Team-building skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

 

Additional Information

This position is based at the Palm Commodities International, LLC facility in LaVergne, Tennessee and will also support a facility in Port Allen, Louisiana.  Some travel will be required.
