What you will be doing
As our Import/Export Specialist, you will arrange and facilitate import and export shipments to ensure products are received on a timely and cost-efficient basis in compliance with all legal requirements. Specifically, this will include:
- Arranging international bookings;
- Tracking all shipments and international transactions;
- Initiating and coordinating international banking transactions, including direct collections and letters of credit;
- Collecting documents from foreign suppliers and creating documentation needed for U.S. customs clearance;
- Carrying out procedures and practices for U.S. customs valuation reconciliation;
- Distributing pre-delivery notifications and material documentation to receiving facilities;
- Ensuring compliance with Export Administration Regulations;
- Filing the Electronic Export Information or supplying accurate information and instructions to freight forwarders;
- Reconciling bills, correcting errors, and assisting with the resolution of billing issues;
- Assisting sales and purchasing with pricing by quoting international freight rates, providing guidance on Incoterms, and maintaining documentation on tariff codes, duty rates, and import restrictions and regulations; and,
- Performing other duties as needed.
Who we are looking for

An Associate's degree or combination of comparable education and/or experience, with at least three years' related experience in international shipments and customs compliance is required. You should have high levels of motivation and initiative, strong organizational skills, and a team spirit. We will also be looking for:
- Strong computer skills and experience using Excel;
- Attention to detail;
- Ability to communicate professionally and courteously in written and verbal communication; and,
- Ability to solve logistical problems.

Additional Details
This is primarily an on-site position located at the Palm Commodities International, LLC facility in LaVergne, TN, with potential to work remotely a maximum of two days/week. The facility is a Tennessee Drug-Free Workplace, and pre-employment drug-testing is required.
