About Rechargeable Battery Materials in Canada

Umicore is preparing to build a battery materials production plant in Loyalist Township, Ontario - the first of its kind in North America. The cutting-edge facility will be a critical part of Canada’s electric vehicle (EV) supply chain. Throughout the design, construction, and operation of the plant, Umicore will be seeking a variety of professionals who share our passion for innovation and sustainability.

 

What you will be doing

For this new site, we are looking for a Production Planning Supervisor, reporting to the Planning, Warehouse, and Internal Logistics Manager. In this role you will be responsible for delivery of production plans, taking into account sales plans and forecasts, as well as responding to production issues which cause schedule adjustments. This role requires balancing various elements to optimize production scheduling, meet customer demands, respond to production/supply issues, and strive for efficiency and cost optimization.

 

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day for the planning team, in accordance with existing procedures. Developing production planning staff, improving their competences and skills as well as assessing their performance.
  • Accountable for preparation and release of short and mid-term production plans for pCAM and CAM in accordance with approved sales forecasts.
  • Responsible for preparation of materials requirements plans for the Loyalist site in accordance with existing procedures. Collection and analysis all necessary aspects for eliminating biases and forecasting errors. Ownership for development of the planning requirements process.
  • Provide effective communication flow across all operational departments - publishing production plans, required materials, planned downtimes etc. Actively developing communication methods with necessary stakeholders to provide clear and direct input when necessary.
  • Responsible for setting up all necessary procedures and instructions to meet both legal and internal requirements in the planning processes. Participation in projects supporting production planning activities, developing production planning tools (specifically the set up for Loyalist site SAP production planning and detailed scheduling PPDS).
  • Assuring all finished goods stock levels are meeting agreements. Providing necessary reporting in a regular base as well as on request to all relevant stakeholders at Loyalist site.

 

Who we are looking for

  • Bachelor Degree or College Diploma with 3+ years planning experience in a manufacturing plant
  • Knowledge of supply chain processes and production planning
  • Knowledge of production cost calculations
  • Experience in ERP system (SAP is preferred) and high level of MS office skills
  • Knowledge of more advanced digital tools, such as Power Bi is an asset
  • Good communicator, strong interpersonal skills, promoter of cross-department cooperation
  • Ability to organize and coach his/her team and to organize project teams
  • This roles on-boardng program includes 3 months training in Europe.
