About Jewellery & Industrial Metals

A wealth of applications. Umicore is an expert in developing products and processes based on precious metals such as gold, silver and platinum. These materials enable our customers to make fine jewellery, coins, high-purity glass and industrial catalysts. Umicore also enables the sustainable and responsible sourcing of these metals and provides closed-loop recycling for our customers. To make the most of these materials we cannot stand still. We need to find new ways to do things, discover new solutions and develop new processes. Which is where you come in.

 

What you will be doing

  • Receive & Verify: Accept refining lots from internal and external sources, verify customer instructions, and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Sort & Record: Weigh, photograph, and label lots using precision equipment including scales, cameras, and computers.
  • Prepare for Processing: Route materials to appropriate departments and prepare samples for assay testing.
  • Track & Report: Record melt room data including weights, losses, slag, and sample details.
  • Support Disposal: Prepare materials for external disposal in compliance with environmental standards.
  • Operate Equipment: Use tools such as drill presses and X-ray machines with confidence and care.
  • Maintain Safety & Cleanliness: Follow all PPE, health, safety, and environmental protocols while keeping your workspace organized.
  • Lift & Move: Regularly handle metal bars weighing up to 20kg (approx. 50lbs).

 

Who we are looking for

  • Education: High school diploma (Grade 12) required.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Comfortable operating production machinery and using tools like micrometers and calipers.
  • Physical Capability: Able to lift heavy materials regularly.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Safety Mindset: Committed to maintaining a safe and respectful work environment.
  • This is a replacement position
