About Jewellery & Industrial Metals

A wealth of applications. Umicore is an expert in developing products and processes based on precious metals such as gold, silver and platinum. These materials enable our customers to make fine jewellery, coins, high-purity glass and industrial catalysts. Umicore also enables the sustainable and responsible sourcing of these metals and provides closed-loop recycling for our customers. To make the most of these materials we cannot stand still. We need to find new ways to do things, discover new solutions and develop new processes. Which is where you come in.

What you will be doing

• Prepare on a daily basis precious metal melts as per established procedures 
• Receive melts returning from production melt as per established procedures 
• Prepare samples from melts for assay lab as per established procedures  
• Collect and sort materials from other departments to be recycled  
• Logging data in computer of melt lots  
• Operate scales, computer, metrology equipment, small rolling mill  
• Following health, safety and environmental guidelines and wear all required personal protective equipment   
• Maintain housekeeping and follow the 5s standard  
• Other duties as assigned  
• Operating of melting units or continuous casting machines

Who we are looking for

• Grade 12 / Highschool diploma  
• Melting experience an asset
• Able to read micrometers, calipers and some testing equipment  
• Able to do heavy lifting (up to 50lbs) 
• Communication and organizational skills required 
• Strong mechanical aptitude  
• Comfortable / competent operating production machinery
