What you will be doing
The Manager Environment supports the Head of Environmental & Energy in:
- driving& raising awareness on environmental performance at site Olen
- steering & deploing the ISO14001 Environmental Management system for the Olen site
- implementing and managing environmental policies in several fields (e.g. waste management, nuclear passive (OLERA), ISO14001, …) to reach and maintain compliance
- leading the operational environmental waste management team and the environmental measurement team
- organising and implementing (mandatory) environmental control measurements (wastes, ambient air quality, water effluents, workplace measurements and radon/OLERA) and assure compliance reporting to authorities
- Managing budget
- developing, leading and participating in (cross-departmental) projects with the aim of aligning processes and/or the operation of the service and BUs with legal requirements and permit demands
- keeping yourself continuously informed of legislative evolutions and developments in the field of environment and radioactive wastes with the aim of increasing knowledge and to keep Umicore processes in these expert field top notch
- Raising the bar (setting standards) in our environmental approach in order to meet elevated demands of government & society
- Manage audits & inspections and develop specific preventive action plans aiming at aligning operations and capex projects with environmental legislations and permit exigences
- Improve the robustness of the environmental data processing and reporting
- Drive and raise awareness on environmental performance. To motivate managers to further decrease the environmental footprint, in line with the legal requirements and the group objectives
Who we are looking for
- Master degree in Sciences (environmental sciences, chemistry, biology, …).
- Accredited degree of Environmental Coordinator - type A (milieucoördinator A)
- At least 5 years of professional experience in field of Environmental consultancy/services.
- Experience with ISO14001
- Mandatory fluent in Dutch and English
- Experienced in steering/coaching teams
- Interest in and knowledge of regional trends within environmental topics
- Great commitment to sustainability and environmental protection
- Experience and proven ability to convince leadership of environmental agenda items
- Analytical mindset – able to manage a wide stream of information
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with different international cultures
- Friendly and helpful attitude, ability to work in a team, service-oriented
- Good spoken and written communication skills: receptivity, persuasion, tactfulness
