What you will be doing

 

We are currently looking for a QEHS & Compliance Manager to join the Cobalt & Specialty Materials (CSM) team in our Olen site. In this role reporting to the Head of Operations at CSM Olen you will be working on ensuring full compliance with all governmental safety, health and environmental policies, the EHS policies and standards of Umicore and of the Olen Site.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Define and execute the QEHS strategy and annual action plan, aligned with BU and site goals.
  • Ensure full compliance with all governmental safety, health and environmental policies, the EHS policies of Umicore and of the Olen site.
  • Set and communicate EHS expectations across all organizational levels.
  • Guarantee EHS compliance for all products, processes, and equipment.
  • Coordinate and follow up on EHS audit-related compliance projects.
  • Inspire and coach employees and managers to exceed EHS standards.
  • Support thorough investigations of high-risk incidents and ensure action plans are implemented.
  • Lead health and well-being initiatives, focusing on industrial hygiene and ergonomics.
  • Develop and monitor internal EHS audit plans and train auditors.
  • Maintain and improve the ISO 9001-compliant quality assurance system.
  • Align quality improvements with customer requirements and feedback.
  • Facilitate customer complaint handling and resolution.
  • Drive QEHS training, coaching, and best practice sharing across departments.
  • Advise on QEHS matters and liaise with internal and external experts.
  • Represent the business line during audits and inspections, ensuring ISO certifications are upheld.

 

Who we are looking for

 

  • 5+ years working experience with industrial installations in a chemical /metallurgical/material processing setting of similar industrial size in the quality, safety, health and environment domain
  • Master’s degree in science or engineering, preferably with bachelor degree in safety (Preventieadviseur Niv 2) and environmental management
  • Fluency in Dutch and English (both spoken and written)
  • Proven ability to build strong networks and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership through coaching, mentoring, and motivating others to achieve their best.
  • Strong analytical mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • A collaborative team player who actively contributes to team success and fosters a positive working environment.
