What you will be doing
The Logistics Manager is responsible for managing supplier relationships with transportation companies and freight forwarders, ensuring incoming and outgoing shipments are handled in an expedient manner and in compliance with internal procedures as well as legal/environmental requirements.
Import/Export Responsibilities
- Responsible for multiple lines of transport (air, sea, road, railways) and all lines of the business activity including arranging of import/export with external brokers.
- Assist Compliance Manager with import/export activities and help ensure compliance with UOM import/export procedures and external requirements.
- Ensure accuracy of duty/freight charges and resolve any shipping or customs issues as they arise.
- Monitor and follow applicable laws and regulations, improve and or modify standard operating procedures accordingly.
Additional Responsibilities
- Supervise Optics/HPC logistics personnel to ensure proper administration of Business System Transactions along with review of compliance with export procedures.
- Coordinate with production team to ensure timely shipments and work with quality department on shipping related complaints for resolution.
- Oversee incoming shipments and ensure timely receipt/delivery of material along with Business System Transactions.
- Develop improvement plans for logistics department along with logistics personnel.
Who we are looking for
- Associates Degree (2 year) in related field(s) and minimum 5 years combined Purchasing, Logistics, and Import/Export Compliance experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Manufacturing environment experience is required
- Hazardous Materials Shipping Certification preferred
- U.S. Customs Broker License is preferred
- Experience with SAP desirable

Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Demonstrated ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Demonstrated affinity with numbers and financial metrics.
