What you will be doing
The laboratory chemist is performing the in-time physicochemical analyses of mass production samples with a strong focus on the quality of results. At the same time he/she will be responsible for the smooth running of designated equipment in the lab.
As the Nysa plant is new, the Lab chemist will initially be participating in the successful start-up of the analytical lab, following a project approach.
After a thorough training, he/she will be implementing the necessary measurement equipment and standard operating procedures (SOP’s) within the analytical area of the lab, as well as assisting the management in the set-up of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) database.
After the start-up phase, the focus will gradually evolve to the execution of the analytical activities, performing analytical measurements according to prescribed methods and entering data into LIMS database, with an emphasis on in-time delivery of results, daily quality checks and on equipment management (keep files up to date, ensure optimal operation and proper inspections of lab equipment, perform trouble shooting in case of deviations). Additional job responsibilities require the following actions:
- Cooperation with the Analytical Competence Center to implement new methods/new equipment in the site laboratory, by executing the necessary validation and proficiency tests locally, and reporting on the achieved results
- Management and supervision of chemicals and reference materials for the designated analytical area:
• Proper Qc and Reference materials will be defined together with the supervision and/or ACC
• Follows up on the stock of necessary spare parts, consumables and reference materials in the specific lab area, and ensures their in-time ordering
- Provides proper training to newcomers on the designated equipment, ensuring the transfer of technical understanding of the analytical techniques and good laboratory practices
