What you will be doing
The HR Operations Payroll & Benefits Lead is responsible for the regional oversight of payroll and benefits management and supports regional initiatives by coordinating payroll activities. The position is also key in the development and delivery of effective systems relating to pay data and benefits (system setup, annual enrollment, etc.)
- Responsible to deliver legally compliant payroll and benefit programs for US and Canadian locations
- Manage agreements with administrators and vendors, monitor their process and service delivery towards program efficacy
- Direct others to complete work for the processing of payroll, and employee benefits consistent with defined standards and schedules
- Maintain and process data in systems to established payroll processes and procedures; review records for pay irregularities
- Responsible for relationship with the payroll vendor to ensure updates are made to the payroll database including the annual payroll schedule and benefits platforms.
- Administer the benefit program systems and ensure the accuracy and integrity of all eligibility information
- Facilitate internal cost reallocation relating to payroll and benefit expenses
- Analyze any changes to federal, state and country laws regarding benefits, compensation and payroll, acting as an advisor to management on these topics
- Recommend new directions, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of services performed and systems.
- Work with payroll and benefits vendors to ensure changes are appropriately implemented with regard to wage and tax law and benefit plan rule compliance
- Provide requested information related to accounting reconciliations and provide general ledger support.
- Generate accounting reports according to established criteria, schedules and as directed on an ad-hoc basis.
- Stay current on HRIS, payroll and benefit systems to achieve alignment with benefits systems and ensure effective accounting support.
- Advise sites on the resolution of pay-related issues.
Who we are looking for
Functional requirements
- Associate's degree but Bachelor’s degree (preferred) in Accounting or related HR field
- Certified Payroll Professional preferred, other related certifications a plus
- 5+ years progressive HR experience with HRIS (SAP), payroll systems and applications, multi-jurisdictional employer payroll tax reporting and governmental compliance required
- Knowledge of benefit programs including health insurance, disability insurance, worker’s compensation insurance, life insurance, 401k and Defined Benefit plans
- Knowledge of ADP Comprehensive Payroll and Benefits platform
- Working knowledge Microsoft Suite skills; strong Excel skills preferred
- Strong working knowledge of HRIS, multi-jurisdictional payroll applications and design, and regulatory compliance including Fair Labor Standards, Equal Pay, and Department of Labor regulations
