Job Purpose
- Executes and/or leads work within Analytical (Laboratory).
- Focuses on supporting the development and implementation of analytical methods and processes.
- Ensures the integrity and reliability of laboratory operations, driving continuous improvement and alignment with industry standards.
Job Qualifications
Required:
- One year laboratory bench work experience
- Proven expertise in Spectroscopy and applications software
- Thorough knowledge of the equipment and chemicals used
- Training and experience in the operation, calibration and method development for specialized equipment such as ICP and wet chemistry
Preferred:
- A Bachelors or Associates degree in chemistry
Your Key Accountabilities
- Perform ICP, gravimetric, wet chemistry, ion chromatography, titration, and other analyses. Responsible to provide accurate and timely laboratory data that will be used for the generation of Certificates of Analysis for products released by Precious Metals Chemistry (PMC).
- Coordinate and ensure timely and accurate ICP Analysis and Wet Chemistry processes for the support of PMC production and development products (and Stationary Catalyst support as needed). Responsible for the strict control, maintenance, and improvements of existing analytical test methods, equipment, and calibration requirements to guarantee accuracy and precision. Maintains overall laboratory cleanliness and a safe work environment.
- Work with LIMS system to receive and report data – support set up for new products and tests. Provide analytical resolution when issues or conflicts arise.
- Implement new tests and techniques for emerging requirements or product technology. Evaluate and determine procedures as well as perform testing for non-routine ICP and wet chemistry samples. Coordinate tests by outside laboratories or by other Umicore sites.
- Maintain systems to monitor performance of laboratory equipment, including MSA’s or capability studies.
