  2. Identifies new opportunities related to Analytical Technology and shares those opportunities with the project or program manager to transform these opportunities into a well-defined analytical project
  3. Evaluates the improvement through statistics and cost assessment; and provides post-project support to the analytical laboratory
  4. Collaborates with analytical teams to ensure the global standardization of equipment and methods
  5. Builds and applies technical expertise (i) in the field of physicochemical analysis, battery characterization and/or materials characterization; (ii) of the relevant materials (raw materials, intermediates, and final products) and the production processes; (iii) sampling methodologies, (iv) automation and digitalization and/or (v) lean six sigma methodologies.
  6. Ensures Excellence in Execution (ExE) according to Umicore’s OE framework (Employees, Quality, EHS, Customer, Productivity, Resources)

The Engineer will work in one of the following domains:

         Analytical Innovation:

  1. Improving analytical processes through lean six sigma methodologies (5s, Waste removal, Value Stream Mapping, Yamazumi charting, Kaizen events and/or DMAIC processes)
  2. Developing and optimizing sampling processes (including automation and robotization)
  3. Developing and implementing automation/digital solutions for/in the analytical laboratories
  4. Developing and implementing in-line/at-line analysis at the production area

         pCAM/CAM methods and alignment:

  1. Defining the analytical methodology for new pCAM/CAM products (including raw materials, additives, intermediates, process samples, the final product, and environmental samples)
  2. Developing new analytical methods or improving existing analytical methods (including selecting the appropriate analytical technology/equipment).
  3. Globally standardizing the analytical methodology to the relevant analytical laboratories
  4. Managing the global alignment status by means cross-check or alignment exercises
