What you will be doing
You will be part of the Global Umicore Tax team, responsible for leading and coordinating the VAT planning and business advisory support for the Battery Materials and Catalysis Business Groups in EMEA region, with primary geographic indirect tax leadership for Poland, Finland, Denmark, France and Sweden. You will be supported by and work in alignment with the regional and functional Umicore tax leaders.
You will be based in the Poland (Wroclaw area, with a regular presence in Nysa/Nowa Ruda).
You will be reporting to the Indirect Tax Director (who is based in Belgium).
In this newly established role you will focus on:
- Proactive stakeholder relationship management, mainly for the Battery Materials and Catalysis Business Group and its joint-ventures in EMEA, mainly in: Poland, Finland, Denmark, France and Sweden
- Managing the indirect tax reviews and audits
- Providing indirect tax leadership to change management projects concerning e-invoicing, e-reporting, and the comprehensive roll-out, continuous improvement
- Structuring and monitoring of the transactional indirect tax compliance and reporting processes
- Initiating and maintaining indirect tax value creation actions, including indirect tax ERP automation and digitalization, simplification, harmonisation and optimisation
- Leading the indirect tax aspects of business transactions and M&A transactions
- Creating awareness for indirect tax sensitivities, compliance requirements and opportunities with the relevant legal entity Finance leaders and the business group leadership at all levels
- Managing external tax advisor relationships in the selected countries
- Balancing opportunities and risks between value creation, tax compliance and risk management
- Alignment of selected strategies with stakeholders and Global Umicore Tax team.
Who we are looking for
- Master in Tax Law, Economics or Finance
- CPA / tax advisor exam / postgraduate degree in taxation is preferred
- Very good technical knowledge of the European VAT law as well as the Polish national VAT law
- Minimum 5 years of VAT management experience in an in-house role, consulting experience will considered as a plus
- GBS/COE experience is an additional asset
- Knowledge of SAP and Microsoft 365 skills
- Ability to speak Polish (native) and English (minimum C1), additional languages will be considered as a plus
- Change management skills and process orientation combined with self-starter attitude
- Very well developed transparent communication, organisational skills and a sense of structure
- Ownership mentality in terms of identifying and delivering on opportunities and a problem solving attitude
- Proven cross-cultural leadership skills
- Strong business acumen and proven track record of efficient business partnerships creation
